Bibles in Indian Languages
A Bible distribution method that affords missionaries in India and Africa an occupation
"Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand." Revelation 1:3
God is honored in the production process at Sanma Bible Press. We are not a commercial printer that prints huge quantities of everything. Sanma Bible Press is a smaller operation that is exclusive for Bibles. When Bibles are not printed, the press remains idle. It is a place where ministers of the Word come together to pray for the places and people that need Bibles, produce the Bibles in their languages, and respectfully deliver where they need them.
From unloading the paper, through the packing of Bibles and loading them on to bicycles and trucks, God's Word is handled by people who fear God. And God has honored this mission. Bibles are made in our press, in various languages and sizes, and are distributed across India, South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Malawi, and other places where God's Word is scarce.
"He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions." Psalms 107:20
God's Word has brought healing - spiritual, physical, and material, to people and to their communities.
Ministries that work with limited budgets enjoy our services and products as Bibles are printed for them at subsidized prices. Sanma Bible distribution program became an occupation for many missionaries in India and Africa that make hand-bound Bibles. These hardworking men and women are channels of distribution. In places where Christians struggle to find a living, this mission created jobs. Bibles handbound by missionaries are sold through congregations and mobile bookstalls. Customers get to connect with the person that made their Bibles. They read it.
More than 25 years in the distribution of Bibles, we have learned that, people would rather buy a Bible, provided they can afford one. Sanma has been privileged to make God's Word affordable and accessible for many. Handbound Bibles that our missionaries make are hardly stored. Each is read by six or more people.
One of our former missionaries, Pastor C.H. Joseph has constructed two church buildings in the hamlets that he ministers, totally from the earnings of selling handbound Bibles. These two rural communities in eastern India had no knowledge of the Gospel when he started the work in 2012. Today both have congregations that worship the living Savior. They have beautiful buildings, and his people have Bibles. Pastor C.H. has worked with Sanma since 2001. He is no longer supported by Sanma. His ministry is supported entirely through the sales of hand-bound Bibles. His Bible ministry provides jobs. Pastor Izak and his wife Linda reach the remotest parts of Mozambique and South Africa. Their ministry too, is supported through the resale of Bibles they purchase from Sanma. God's Word has healing power. It brings people out of destructed lives. Let the Word be read and heard, in every household.
"What impresses us is the way Sanma uses the missions to empower people... We have been partners for more than 17 years. Our relationship gets stronger because we reach India with the Gospel through this work in the most practical way."
