Recognitions

Sanma's greatest recognition comes from the people whose lives we had the honor to touch and help to change; the children who were once child laborers, the poor mothers who are now armed with the knowledge to protect their children from deadly diseases, people who are now free from the bondage of literacy and many others. They are living recognitions for Sanma.

Sanma is also an officially certifying organization for the Presidential Service Award Program, a presidential initiative, from the White House established to honor the volunteer services of Americans.

Mission

The mission of Sanma is to provide means to the defenseless children and their community that allow them to live with dignity, and grow as contributing citizens.

Objective

Sanma's objective is to establish sustainable community-based educational programs and a support system that enriches and empowers the rural areas of south Asia.

What we do?

Sanma deploys majority of its programs through our Community Education Centers where local educators who certified by Sanma educate and build up each village according to the specific needs of the village. The educators are local people who are trained by highly qualified professional in the respective subjects such as literacy, rural health, and agriculture. Sanma currently has 43 village schools that serve 51 villages in India. The people in these villages are vulnerable in every form due to their low literacy, health, and financial conditions.

Who is the beneficiary of this program, and how does the program benefit the end user?

The primary beneficiary of our programs is the defenseless children and the micro-farmer community in rural south Asia. The programs of Sanma are implemented on a community basis. The child laborers and poor parents of the village are brought to these centers where they receive knowledge and training that allow them a quality life. At the Sanma CEC's people receive:

  •  Functional Literacy (Ability to Read and write regional language)

  • Health Literacy (Information to prevent diseases, and skill to use home remedies)

  • Agricultural Literacy (Ways to enhance agricultural productivity and animal health)

  • Financial Literacy (Knowledge to prepare a home budget and building a habit to save)

People who successfully complete the training programs become eligible to receive tools that would allow them to advance in their life. Sanma provides tools such as sewing machines, farm animals, and small farm equipment.

What are the short-term goals of Sanma?

Short term goal is establishing self sufficient villages and mission locations in fifteen villages that can be used as guide for each region. Applying methods that are found effective and practical in these villages, the Community Education Center program can be scaled to other parts of the states.

What are the long term goals?

Our CEC (Community Education Center) program has brought results that are unique because it reaches the very fiber with which the nation is woven, the micro-farm and farm laborer community. Sanma village schools have been instrumental to bring peace and hope to the villages we serve.

Now we seek to develop and produce educational material that can be used to train people to become Community Educators, and Health Information Specialists in other parts of the world where lack of literacy and health cause people to be less productive citizens.

Why does Sanma make sense?

Sanma makes sense because its programs are not only effective, but they are also practical. The depth of the program is that, instead of responding the symptoms, Sanma brings hope to the defenseless by reaching and alleviating the root cause of their problems. By implementing ways that enhance literacy, health, and agriculture Sanma strives to bring a sustainable solution to a problem that unjustifiably lingers on humanity more than long.

Why should I invest in Sanma?

Our history demonstrates trust and accountability. In addition, each program is deployed with maximum efficiency. Sanma's programs are deployed in a broad sense, serving people from all background, regardless of their ethnic origin, religion, or any such divisions. One can give to the programs of Sanma with peace of mind and confidence that their contributions will make the maximum impact in a sustainable fashion.
